Faire des photos de chiens tout en voyageant, oui s.v.p.!

Une chose que vous avez sûrement remarqué à mon sujet en suivant ma page Facebook (ou mon Instagram) c’est que j’aime faire des activités de perfectionnement. Quand j’ai vu passer ce workshop sur la photo commerciale à Seattle, je ne pouvais pas m’imaginer manquer une telle opportunité.

Avec un contenu super intéressant et original, trois instructrices avec des spécialités très différentes, chacune experte en sa matière (Nic de Animalhaus Media, Nicole de Hair of the Dog et Amy de Amelia Soper Your Friendtographer), et en plus j’avais plusieurs amis photographes que j’avais rencontrés à d’autres séminaires qui s’y étaient déjà inscrits! Passer une semaine avec des professionnels qui partagent les mêmes passion et les mêmes défis c'est enrichissant comme ça ne se peu pas!

La semaine en quelques faits saillants:

- On était hébergés à l’hôtel Alexis, dog friendly et très bien situé (je le recommande fortement). On a même fait un shooting de pratique en lumière basse à l’hôtel!

- On a eu un shooting au vignoble Januik. Superbe endroit pour des photos! On a couronné le tout avec une dégustation de vin, oh que oui!

- On a eu l’énorme opportunité de participer à un shooting de produits pour une compagnie de grande réputation dans une maison de rêve (photos à venir).

- Il a mouillé tout le temps qu’on était en ville mais ça ne nous a pas empêché de sortir à quelques reprises en dehors des heures du workshop pour faire des portraits de chiens dans des lieux iconiques! (et goûter à des pâtisseries au marché!)

- Quand ta co-chambreuse demande si c’est ok que ses deux pugs viennent passer une nuit à l’hôtel? Ma réponse: juste une nuit? : )

Je reviens avec de magnifiques souvenirs et full inspirée!
Pas besoin de vous dire… je rêve déjà au prochain workshop!

So… I get to travel AND take photos of dogs? Sign me up!

One thing you may have noticed by following my Facebook page (or my Instagram) is that I love to learn and go to photography retreats. When I saw this workshop on commercial photography in Seattle, I could not imagine missing such an opportunity.

With super interesting content, and three instructors with very different specialties, each an expert in her field (Nic of Animalhaus Media and branding expert, Nicole from Hair of the Dog and Amy from Amelia Soper Your Friendtographer), on top of that I had several photog friends who I had met at other seminars that had already signed up! (To spend a week with like minded professionals who share the same passion and challenges as you is priceless.)

A few highlights from the week:

- We stayed at the Hotel Alexis, dog friendly and very well located (I highly recommend it). We even got to practice shooting in low light at the hotel! With adorable pups!

- We had a photoshoot at the Januik vineyard. What a great location for photos! End the day with wine tasting, yes please!

- We had the huge opportunity to shoot amazing dog products for an awesome company in a dream house (photos to come).

- It rained pretty much all the time when we were in town but it did not stop us from going out a few times outside of the workshop hours to take portraits of dogs in iconic places! (and taste pastries at the market!)

- When your roommate asks if it's ok that her two pugs come to spend a night at the hotel with us? My answer: just one night? :)

I returned home with wonderful memories and fully inspired!
No need to tell you ... I'm already dreaming of the next workshop!
